The mission of Reach-Aut

The Reach-Aut Academic Centre for Autism – collects, connects and links existing and new information about crucial care and treatment issues for people with autism.

There has been a lot of research into autism, yet it is still too often the case that the transfer of knowledge to the practitioners who deal with autism is restricted and slow. The Reach-Aut Academic Centre for Autism wants to change this. Reach-Aut conducts research related to the entire lifetime, and in doing so, conforms with the recommendations of The Health Council of the Netherlands (Gezondheidsraad) as regards knowledge infrastructure.

The power of those with autism and those closely involved in their lives will be strengthened by the realisation of a sustainable link between scientific theory and practice, and by the dissemination of knowledge. They will have the expectation of a better quality of life and will be able to participate in society in a manner appropriate to them. Interest groups PAS and NVA are structurally involved in all (sub) projects, and in this way the expertise of experienced specialists will be safeguarded and made use of.

Reach-Aut has coordinated its programme with the Academic Centre for Autism Samen Doen! (Do it Together!) so that results and products will complement each other. A subsidy for both organisations has been granted by ZonMw.
